Saturday

*I wrote this Saturday night and meant to add it it, but now it's Tuesday so I'll just post it and get to work on a more current post.
Mississippi; the red bridge is for cars and the white one is for trains.
Woke up at 5:15 a.m., despite having gone to bed after 1 a.m., to accompany Ray and Karen to Hastings, a town south of us, for an 8k Ray was running. We got there an hour early. Race finally started. Karen and I jumped in the car and drove to the halfway point by the river.
Down by the river for a few minutes while Ray is running an 8k.
Waved to Ray when he ran by. Got back in the car and headed back up to the starting/finish line. Karen handed Rennie off to Ray to run the last couple hundred yards. I went to take pictures of them crossing the line.
Ray coming in to the finish line.
Not bad at all for 4.97 miles.
Headed back. I was totally zonked and useless for conversation. And had a poodle on me.
He's a fan.
Came home, took two hour nap, decided to heck with it and bought Sarah's plane ticket. Took a shower, went to Target for bike gloves, notebooks, shampoo and conditioner and a few other things. My phone started ringing and I didn't recognize the number. It was the editor from the Times. She let me know she got my resume and wanted to bring me in for an interview. Also asked for headline and editing samples. And whether copy editing is what I really want to do. I told I could see myself doing it for a few years at least. Came home and decided against going boating because it was 2 p.m. and I didn't want to be gross and rushing off to work after being in lake water. Plus it wasn't too hot for once.
Poor snack planning.
A huge spider flying through the air to attack the "1st" building. Just kidding. It's the size of the quarter and on the outside of the break-corner window with a billion other tiny spiders. "My cheeldren!" it says with a scary Peter Lorre laugh, as they rain down on the innocent people boarding a bus six floors below.
Since I needed to get samples, I asked for help and Cigale showed me how to access the old pages, so I was able to go in and save PDFs of my published headlines. I also worked out how to export PDFs of my editing, so now I have samples to send to the Times editor. It was a huge blessing that I asked when I did, because the computer only saves editions up to two weeks back, and some of my best headlines were on their last day. Perfect timing.
Leaving work at 11 p.m. Someone moved this cone to the front of Alyssa's car. Which was obnoxious. But she'd parked between two meters, which probably annoyed someone looking for a spot, and it only took 5 seconds to move the cone. Not bad at all considering they could've slashed her tires.
When I came home I ate a ton of blueberries and some Nutter Butters and Oreos. It was 70 degrees outside when I went to bed, which felt chilly and wonderful.
